JESUS

Pearls and diamonds and bands of gold,
Wintry mornings of beauty untold,
Masterful painters could never unfold,
The glorious beauty of Jesus.

Voices of angels all singing above,
The fluttering wings of a sweet turtle dove,
The voice of a mother all brimming with love,
Could never describe my Jesus.

The moon in the night and the sun in the morn,
The lily of the field in white all adorn,
The sky filled with sunset when day is worn,
Could never compare with Jesus.

He is the fragrance of flowers, the breath of spring,
The bright star of morning, the crystal king,
The fountain of life, unto Him we all sing,
He is so very much more, my Jesus.

Him I do worship, Him I adore,
He makes my soul peaceful, He makes my heart soar,
To me He gives love, and Oh! so much more,
He's my life, He's my king, He's Jesus.

Request for Transfer

TO: Commander In Chief of Spiritual Armed Forces: Jesus Christ

Dear Lord: I am writing this to you to request a transfer to a desk job.

I herewith present my reasons:

I began my career as a private, because of the intensity of the battle, you have quickly moved me up in the ranks. You have made me an officer and given me a tremendous amount of responsibility. There are many soldiers and recruits under my charge. I am constantly being called upon to dispense wisdom, make judgments, and find solutions to complex problems. You have placed me in a position to function as an officer, when in my heart I know I have only the skills of a private. I realize that You have promised to supply all I would need for the battle.

But sir, I must present you a realistic picture of my equipment. My uniform, once so crisp and starched, is now stained with tears and blood of those I have tried to assist. The soles of my boots are cracked and worn from the miles I have walked trying to enlist and encourage the instructed troops. My weapons are marred, tarnished and chipped from constant battle against the enemy. Even the Book of Regulations I was issued has been torn and tattered from endless use.
The words are now smeared.

You have promised You would be with me throughout, but when the noise of the battle is so loud and the confusion is so great, I can neither see nor hear You. I feel so alone. I'm tired. I'm discouraged. I have Battle Fatigue. I would never ask You for a discharge. I love being in Your service. But I humbly request a demotion and transfer. I'll file papers or clean latrines. Just get me out of the battle please, sir.
Your faithful, but tired, warrior.

To:Faithful but tired warrior
Spiritual Armed Forces Location:The Battlefield
Subject:Transfer

Dear Soldier: Your request for transfer has been denied.

I herewith present my reasons:

You are needed in this battle. I have selected you, and I will keep my word to supply all your need. You do not need a demotion and transfer. You'd never cut it on latriene duty. You need a period of "R & R" Renewal and Rekindling. I am setting aside a place on the battlefield that is insulated from all sound and fully protected from the enemy. I will meet you there and I will give you rest. I will remove your old equipment and "make all things new."

You have been wounded in the battle, my soldier. Your wounds are not visible, but you have received grave internal injuries. You need to be healed. I will heal you. You have been weakened in the battle. You need to be strengthened. I will strengthen you and be your strength. I will instill in you confidence and ability. My words will rekindle within you renewed love, zeal and enthusiasm.

Report to me tattered and empty, I will refill you.

Compassionately, Your Commander-in-Chief:

Jesus Christ

IT ISN'T X-MAS, BUT CHRISTMAS

It isn't X-mas, but Christmas,
For that's the day Christ came.
When you take Christ out of Christmas,
You cross out life's best name.

The best that God could give.
I wonder why they've forgotten.
That we for Him should live.

Why take Christ's name out of Christmas?
For He came to set us free.
If we had Christmas without Christ
How hopeless we would be.

Why, is it ~ that they cross out Christ,
The greatest gift of all?
Why, is it ~ that nobody cares
Or listens to His call?

To me ~ X stands for nothing,
Then why, cross His name out?
To me ~ Christ means everything
He took away my doubt.

I'll never try to shame my Lord,
I'll keep His name in place;
Then when life here below is over,
I'll see Him face to face.

Let us all, "KEEP CHRIST IN CHRISTMAS"
Love and serve Him this year.
It isn't X-mas but it's Christmas,
Ring it out, loud and clear.

Looking Back

I've had a long, full, good life
And the world's most wonderful wife.
We laughed a lot, shed some tears,
Were married you know, for sixty years.

Our Kids grew up on the farm,
That gawky old house, so full of charm-
They rode plowhorses to school,
Once in a while, galloped a mule.

I was Road Commissioner for the County,
Where corn and beans grew in such bounty.
Mom, for forty thrashers she cooked,
Not one morsel they overlooked.

She cooked without benefit of recipe,
How she did that still escapes me.
Canned all our vegetables and fruits,
While I went fishin' in my wading boots.

We had an old goat, who slid down our car,
World's silliest goat, I guess, by far
He wore out his welcome, one day in a shower,
When he paused and ate Mom's Blue Ribbon Flower.

The lazy old river - how it did curve.
One night our neighbor forgot to swerve,
He, his buggy , and horses fell in,
Right where the Kids used to swim.

Our greatest fun, to town Saturday nights,
Was extra special, should there be fights!
Movie theatre in town showed only cowboys,
But they were great joy for this old plowboy.

For Sunday School, the Kids Mom dressed,
As they had to look their very best.
Fellowship, dances, picnics and fun,
Seems as how Sundays were never done.

There were chickens and hogs to feed
Best of all, the bread to knead,
I remember finally getting indoor plumbing,
Sure thought that day was never coming.

All-electric took away a certain romance,
Gained when by oil lamp we used to dance.
Sat near the old coal stove, huddled together,
Through wind, snow, damp, rainy, cold weather.

And then I found one day
Our youth had just run away.
Almost daily now I am told
I am really looking very old.

There on the farm when WWII was over,
We screamed, jumped, rolled in clover.
Heard Churchbells ring all the way from town,
Acted plum fools, and made like clowns.

Yes, life was difficult in war time,
Just other mountains we had to climb.
This served to draw us closer you see,
Mom, the Kids, the farm and me.

I recall the feelings of fear,
When first my sons climbed the old John Deere,
But soon I relaxed, with confidence,
'Cause I saw they drove with some sense.

Our Daughters had many suitors to call,
Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall.
There was soft ringing of wedding bells,
Very soon, sweet lullabyes to sing and tell.

I remember wild-flowering BlueBells,
Smelled so good, they could cast a spell.
Oh, the mushrooms and berries we picked,
Meant nothing to us then, but how time ticked.

I'm now in this place called a nursing home,
Where I spend much time, myself, alone
I sort through my mind, choose a memory,
Looking for those meaning most to me.

Must tell you Mom's gone on, you see,
Up there, fixin' a place for me.
There's a hole where my heart used to stir,
She wrapped, sealed, and took it with her.

I think of her daily in my prayer,
Know for long, I'll too be there.
I'm glad I am getting older, feel her
Angelwings brushing my shoulder.

Though it will be wonderful for me,
Know I'll be missed by my family.
But each of them shall receive,
Godly Heritage that Mom and I leave.

They tell me now there's a dairy barn,
Right where once stood our lovely farm.
In the eye of my mind I can see it yet,
Life on our farm I could never forget.

"What Faith!"

I have seen and heard " World's News"
Since I headed out my mother's womb.
My life was tomb and sin as my bedroom.
I was a dreamer seeing many things in my sleep.
Also the violence behind words affected my heart and peace

Walking down a street with women of lust and immorality.
Men begun to walk with us, but never really within.
The crowd of immoral girlies
I talked with during my sleepin
On paper folded into wax film strips and books...

All Praises to the "Never Sleeper" whom manifests on Brinks of EL O' HIM who said, "I aM ManuEL "
He awoke me gently from the dream that soon would cease
Awoke me from a false life-life.It's not reality its a dream!

However the thought that constantly traps me is,
Why do I play with IT?
Knowing that if I play with this so-called rest,
I'll fall asleep and be restless.
I put myself in situations reminded,

That I'm not supposed to jump in bed.
But I do it and eventually put the covers over my head.
He comes, takes me out of it
Knowing that my heart is for HIM.
I fall on my face crying, "ABBA, forgive me!
Save me from this infection!"

HE picked me up hand in Hand and
My distress begun to die.
It happened when I felt the Love
HIS voice when HE replied.

Peace be still, come hear my son.
O' what little faith you have,
But remember I have enough strength.
I'm your Doctor just take these pills everyday, okay?

There is 66 capsules and you
May have to swallow one piece by piece.
And the capsules also come in different sizes.
The pills are called, " AWake On Road Divine".
Nice title isnt it? But I called it the W.O.R.D for short.

You won't find it from anyone else.
So it is only I that can bring you great health.
But you need to remember,
That I love you and from this sleep I have purged you from.

All you need to do is believe, have faith, trust me.
My Spirit is in you.
Call me whenever you want and need.
The battle of sleep is already won, just believe.

Antonio Limas Oct. 2000

My spiritual son Antonio Limas wrote this poem for me one day, when we were talking about how satan tries to come between the people we love.

Everytime satan wants to be comin around,
We smakin him down,
All the way with his face in the ground,
Cuz we are love profound,
And we always throw down our crowns,
To the one - who for us- His life he had to put it down!
Came with the sound,
Of many waters thats drawing the crowd,
Of many who want salvation and we gettin it now!

Antonio Limas Oct. 26th 2000

A few weeks ago a woman had been killed in an auto accident. She was very, very well liked, the school systems shut down for her funeral and it was on the news and so on. On the day the teachers came back to work, they found this poem in their e-mail that the deceased woman had sent on Friday before she left school.

When Tomorrow Starts Without Me~

When tomorrow starts without me,
And I'm not there to see,
If the sun should rise and find your eyes
All filled with tears for me;

I wish so much you wouldn't cry
The way you did today,
While thinking of the many things,
We didn't get to say.

I know how much you love me,
As much as I love you,
And each time that you think of me,
I know you'll miss me too;

But when tomorrow starts without me,
Please try to understand,
That an angel came and called my name
And took me by the hand,

And said my place was ready,
In heaven far above,
And that I'd have to leave behind
All those I dearly love.

But as I turned to walk away,
A tear fell from my eye
For all my life, I'd always thought,
I didn't want to die.

I had so much to live for,
So much left yet to do,
It seemed almost impossible,
That I was leaving you.

I thought of all the yesterdays,
The good ones and the bad,
The thought of all the love we shared,
And all the fun we had.

If I could relive yesterday,
Just even for a while,
I'd say good-bye and kiss you,
And maybe see you smile.

But then I fully realized,
That this could never be,
For emptiness and memories,
Would take the place of me.

And when I thought of worldly things,
I might miss come tomorrow,
I thought of you, and when I did,
My heart was filled with sorrow.

But when I walked through heaven's gates,
I felt so much at home.
When God looked down and smiled at me,
From His great golden throne,

He said, "This is eternity,
And all I've promised you."
Today your life on earth is past,
But here life starts anew.

I promise no tomorrow,
But today will always last,
And since each day's the same way,
There's no longing for the past.

You have been so faithful,
So trusting and so true.
Though there were times You did some things
You knew you shouldn't do.

But you have been forgiven
And now at last you're free.
So won't you come and take my hand
And share my life with me?

So when tomorrow starts without me,
Don't think we're far apart,
For every time you think of me,
I'm right here, in your heart.

Send this to all those you care about...Because you never know what's going to happen tomorrow...Show them how much you care, before it's too late...This is something my friend sent to me, and I wanted to share this beautiful story with all of my friends, family and loved ones.

Pebble In The Water

Drop a pebble in the water,
just a splash, and it’s gone;
But there's half a hundred ripples
circling on and on and on,

Spreading, spreading from the center,
flowing on out to sea.
And there is no way of telling
where the end is going to be.

Drop a pebble in the water;
in a minute you will forget,
But there's little waves a-flowing
and there's ripples circling yet,

And those little waves a-flowing
to a great big wave have grown;
You've disturbed a mighty river
just by dropping in a stone.

Drop an unkind or careless word:
in a minute it is gone;
But there's half a hundred ripples
circling on and on and on,

They keep spreading, spreading,
spreading from the center as they go,
And there is no way to stop them,
once you've started the flow.

Drop an unkind or careless word:
in a minute you forget;
But there's little waves a-flowing,
and there's ripples circling yet.

And perhaps in some sad heart
a mighty wave of tears you've stirred,
And disturbed a life that was happy
where you dropped that unkind word.

Drop a word of cheer and kindness:
just a flash and it is gone;
But there is half a hundred ripples
circling on and on and on,

Bearing hope and joy and comfort
on each splashing, dashing wave,
Till you wouldn't believe the volume
of the one kind word you gave.

Drop a word of cheer and kindness:
in a minute you will forget;
But there's gladness still a–swelling,
and there's joy circling yet.

And you've rolled a wave of comfort
whose sweet music can be heard,
Over miles and miles of water
just by dropping one kind word.

These next 4 poems were written by Darlene Virginia Quarles.
She submitted them to me for publication in my poetry page.
Here is a little bio about Darlene...

I was born in 1958. My father was a preacher. I have lived all my life in rural Gordon County, Georgia. I am divorced with two children and two grandchildren. I believe in God, family, friends and fine food.

Dear Heavenly Father

Please look down on me...
I've walked along an alien path
With eyes that would not see.
I raged and cursed and fought
Against an unseen enemy,

Pain and fear,
Sorrow and tears
Have all followed me
Down this ole road,
So please help me, Jesus,
I can't carry this heavy load.

Through the darkness
Give me light to see~
And from the chains of sin
Set this captive free.
Thank you Jesus for your unseen hand
And be listening for me~Jesus~
I'll be back again.

Master's Plan

Death bells over the mountain roll
Satan bargins for your soul
But the road that has no end
Will lead you back again

Back to the place you've been before
The man who will lead you is knocking
At your heart's door
Though you've forgotten him
And wondered away,
He still loves you, even when you stray

He'll free you from your fear
He'll wipe away your tears
He's shelter from the storm
He'll keep you from all harm
No matter what your'e guilty of
He'll keep you in his love.

Reveal the Cross

Lord, help me to pray through the Holy Spirit,
So that I may come face to face with the cross
And feel that forgiving, amazing grace.

Remove whatever hinderance,
I may have~for in the stormy sea of life,
I'm often tossed.
Help me to commit myself to thee,
Whose precious blood was shed for me.

Conquer the host of darkness and claim thy victory!
Reveal the cross and give me sight of Mount Calvary.
Pierce my heart, so I may receive thee.
Reveal the cross~Thy blood has purchased me.

Reveal the cross, enable me to see the dying Saviour,
That the sight of his death will bring me to my knees.
Reveal the cross~reveal the cross~reveal the cross~to me!

Watch Over Me

The day is almost over and the night is drawing near.
Shadows of darkness steal across the sky
Though the darkness gathers, restless souls sleep.
Watch over the weary, give comfort and sweet sleep.

Give visions so bright.
Watch over them, my Lord,
Through the still night.
Watch over the soul,
That is tossed on life's sea.
Comfort the sufferer,
Let him find shelter in thee.

To those, who are in sin,
Give them hope and life again.
Watch over those, who are in pain
DarkOliveGreen From their burdens and heartaches refrain.

The angels watch over me and you,
Always and lead us safely through
These last days.

God's Love

God's love...nothing can compare
God's love..Jesus shows it;
God's love for you...God's love for me,
It's FREELY given... God's love eternally lives on

You Cannot Know Your Strength Without A Test

I'm strong!
I never knew how strong I was, until the storm came.
There were rains of dissapointments;
Thunders of adversities;
Lightnings of frequent unpleasantries;
Winds of unwanted changes.
But when the storm passed over and the winds ceased,
The sunlight came in through the clouds.
And there I stood, still firmly planted
in the Word of the Lord.
Yes, the Lord is my anchor.
I never knew how strong
I was, until the storm came.

Answered Prayer

~ Jesus Christ lives in my heart
I should have let Him from the start
But I was blind and could not see
That He would light my paths for me

~ Someone prayed He'd save my soul
That I'd repent and be made whole
An answered prayer from God above
Has given Jesus Christ my love

~ My life is not the same these days
The God of love has changed my ways
The Lord has taken me apart
He's cleaned the stains within my heart

~ He's filled my life with blessings too
And changed the things I want to do
No longer broken, torn apart
The peace of God dwells in my heart

~ I have that comfort from above
Of knowing God and feeling love
You'll never know just what I feel
Until you know my God so real

~ I had a void inside my soul
It took the Lord to make me whole
I thank you God for being there
I thank you God for answered prayer

Prayers

Some prayers are already written.
Some prayers are yet to be heard
Some prayers are said in silence.
Some prayers are spoken words.

Some prayers are intellectual.
Some prayers are rather plain.
Some prayers ask for forgiveness.
Some ask for relief from pain.

Some people only say a prayer
When they have a special need.
Others say prayers all the time
They say it sets them free.

Some say "I don't know how to pray."
"I don't know where to start."
But it's easy if you just remember,
A prayer comes from the heart.

THE HOLY BIBLE vs. THE TV GUIDE

On the table side by side
The Holy Bible and the TV Guide
One's well worn but cherished with pride
Not the Bible, but the TV Guide

One's used daily to help folk decide,
Not the Bible, it's the TV Guide
As pages are turned, what will they see?
Oh, what does it matter, turn on the TV

Then confusion reigns, they can't all agree...
On what they will watch on the old TV
So they open the book in which they confide
Not the Bible, it's the TV Guide

The Word of God is seldom read
Maybe a verse e'er they fall into bed,
Exhausted and sleepy and tired as can be
Not from the Bible: from watching TV

So then back to the table, side by side,
Are the Holy Bible and the TV Guide
No time for prayer, no time for the Word
The way of salvation is seldom heard

Abiding in Christ so full and free
Is found in the Bible, not on TV

I LOVE THE TASTE OF T-BONE STEAK

I love the taste of T-bone steak,
delicious every bite.
But there's nothing like the Word of God,
for my spiritual appetite.

The Word of God has milk and meat,
and even ice cream and cake.
Take a slice of the Bread of Life,
and coffee to keep us awake.

Open your Bible and turn to Psalms
for David's famous buffet.
You can drink all the wine of the Word you want,
and still feel fine the next day.

There's enough of the Word for everyone
and no one has to cheat.
The Word of God is a smorgasbord,
so take all you are able to eat.

Let's have a little long suffering,
Job gives the recipe.
Patience is the main ingredient,
self-denial is the fee.

Wrap that up in temperance;
it may not make much sense;
cover that with contentment,
then add some joy for strength!

Let's have love for dessert,
Jesus made this dish.
Cream of joy and peace together,
sift out all selfishness.

Add some deeds of righteousness,
enough to make it sweet.
Humility is the frosting...
That makes the dish complete.

Or, are you on a diet
cause the race seems hard to run.
For a weight losing menu,
Try Hebrews 12 and 1.

Are you suffering from malnutrition,
and don't know what to do?
Your spiritual growth seems hindered,
Try 1 Peter, 2 and 2.

If when every time you battle,
the enemy always wins,
try some Holy Ghost Protein...
and spiritual vitamins.

God's Word can feed millions
and still have plenty left.
Because the Word of God is SOUL FOOD,

SENT FROM THE WORLD'S GREATEST CHEF!

HAVE A BLESSED DAY!

What does Jesus see?

When Jesus looks upon my life,
What picture does He see.
Does He see His own reflection,
Or does He just see me.

Does He see His likeness,
The product of His hand.
Or just another Christian,
Who never took a stand.

Does He see a child of God,
A child that He set free.
Living life to honor Him,
Or does He just see me.

What about the other folks,
I meet along the way.
Do I show them Jesus,
To brighten up their day.

When someone looks into my eyes,
Can they truly see.
That calm and gentle peace of God,
That dwells inside of me.

When I reach out and shake a hand,
Is He right there in my grip.
Can they feel that strength from God,
That steadies when I slip.

When folks are in my presence,
Do they know His Spirit's there.
Can they see that He's the one,
Who guides me everywhere.

When other people think of me,
What is on their mind.
Do they think of Jesus Christ,
So gentle and so kind.

I try to be like Jesus,
Every single day.
Spreading love and kindness,
All along my way.

I'm afraid that I have failed,
I could not pass the test.
Deep inside my heart I know,
I haven't done my best.

I have had to fight my flesh,
Since the day that I was born.
It's always causing trouble,
And being such a thorn.

That's why His Spirit dwells in me,
He's helping me to learn.
In every situation,
Where I need to turn.

He knew I'd never pass the test,
That's why He took my place.
He gave His life to save my soul,
He suffered my disgrace.

Now I try to be like Him,
I must present Him well.
So other folks will want His gift,
And turn their backs on hell.

Other folks should see the joy,
That Christ has given me.
They should want to have it too,
Especially since it's free.

They should begin to ask me,
What is it they must do.
Just how it is they go about,
Getting Jesus too.

Then I get to tell them,
This wondrous gift is free.
It only takes a humble heart,
A prayer on bended knee.

Someday when I'm face to face,
With the Lord who set me free.
Will He see His own reflection,
Or will He just see me.
